Our
guest house, Lakeland House is located in the centre of Coniston Village,
and our cottages are located in the local area. Coniston village itself
is situated in the heart of the English Lake District on the Cumbria Way.
Coniston is the home of Donald Campbell and Bluebird, Brantwood (the Lake
District home of John Ruskin) and the Steam Yacht Gondola.
You can spend time exploring the many lake
of the Lake District, walking, climbing, fell running, sailing and boating,
pony trekking, bird watching and much, much more.
Coniston
is generally 'Pets friendly', with pets being welcome in most inns and
pubs. Pets are Welcome, of course, at Lakeland House.
Coniston
Coniston village, set in the heart of the
English Lake District National Park makes an attractive and convenient
centre for exploring the spectacular mountain and lake scenery or to simply
relax and sample the quiet enjoyment of the area.
Other
popular tourist destinations such as Ullswater, Keswick, Ravenglass, Eskdale,
Windermere, Grasmere and Bowness are all within easy travelling distance.
The fells and forests are home to abundant wildlife including Badger,
Red Squirrel and Deer.
Outdoor pursuits such as walking, climbing,
watersports, mountain biking and pony trekking are all catered for. There
are walks to suit all abilities from lake strolls to to more challenging
ascents.
From
Coniston, guests can explore the mountains, fells and spectacular waterfalls
that surround the area, including of course, Coniston Water and The Old
Man of Coniston. Coniston Water is the home of the Steam Yacht Gondola,
a Victorian style steam yacht restored and run by the National Trust,
and the location of Donald Campbell's water speed record attempts in Bluebird.
Along the shores of the East side of Coniston
Water is Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin, where his watercolours and
drawing are displayed. From here are stunning views of the lake and fells.
