If you are thinking of a break in
Coniston, perhaps in our Guest House, which offers B&B Accommodation here in
the south Lake District, have a look at some of the interesting information
about Coniston, activities in Coniston and the Lake District in general, and
some photos to wet your appetite.
Our guest house,
Lakeland House is located in the centre of Coniston Village, and our cottages
are located in the local area. Coniston village itself is situated in the heart
of the English Lake District on the Cumbria Way. Coniston is the home of Donald
Campbell and Bluebird, Brantwood (the Lake District home of John Ruskin) and the
Steam Yacht Gondola.
You can spend time exploring
the many lake of the Lake District, walking, climbing, fell running, sailing and
boating, pony trekking, bird watching and much, much more.
Coniston is generally
'Pets friendly', with pets being welcome in most inns and pubs. Pets are

village, set in the heart of the English Lake District National
Park makes an attractive and convenient centre for exploring the
spectacular mountain and lake scenery or to simply relax and sample
the quiet enjoyment of the area.

Other
popular tourist destinations such as Ullswater, Keswick, Ravenglass,
Eskdale, Windermere, Grasmere and Bowness are all within easy travelling
distance. The fells and forests are home to abundant wildlife including
Badger, Red Squirrel and Deer.

Outdoor
pursuits such as walking, climbing, watersports, mountain biking
and pony trekking are all catered for. There are walks to suit all
abilities from lake strolls to to more challenging ascents.
From
Coniston, guests can explore the mountains, fells and spectacular
waterfalls that surround the area, including of course, Coniston
Water and The Old Man of Coniston. Coniston Water is the home of
the Steam Yacht Gondola, a Victorian style steam yacht restored
and run by the National Trust, and the location of Donald Campbell's
water speed record attempts in Bluebird.
Along
the shores of the East side of Coniston Water is Brantwood, the
home of John Ruskin, where his watercolours and drawing are displayed.
From here are stunning views of the lake and fells.
We
can help to organise activities such as mountain biking and pony
trekking.

Coppermines Valley:
"The
path is clear on the ground on the way up from the valley,
seen here from the "grassy knoll". The fork in the road in
the valley is also clear to see, with a branch going either
side of the (somewhat indistinct) row of cottages"
